How to Kill Hill Ants

How To Get Rid Of Harvester Ants

Hill ants can do more than take away from the appearance of your yard. They can actually ruin entire sections of your lawn. Pesticides and bleach can remove them from your lawn, but you may not want to buy and handle these items. You may not wish to pour these chemicals in your yard because they can make children and animals sick. Fortunately there is an organic way. You can also use water to kill hill ants in your yard.

What you will need:

  • Boiling pot
  • Water
  • Put three gallons of water in a pot.
  • Place the pot on your stove and turn on the stove. Leave it on until the water comes to a full boil. Once it does, leave the pot on the stove for another minute or so before turning off the stove.
  • Take the pot full of boiling water outside immediately after you turn off the stove.
  • Cover the entire mound of ants with boiling water. Pour the water slowly to make sure you kill all of the ants.
  • Inspect the area to see if you have killed all of the ants. If any remain, repeat the process. You may need two to three total times to kill all of them.

Tips & Warnings

Boiling water can damage both plants and grass, so be careful when pouring the water. Wear long pants and long sleeves when doing this to protect your body from the boiling water and ants.
