Army ants are ruled by a queen, defended by soldiers and fed by workers. They have large colonies that are constantly expanding as the queen lays eggs all day and the ants attack other colonies for human food. If their foraging has led them to share your home, you may be desperately wondering how to kill the unwanted pests.
Place sodium borate and sugar water around the area where the army ants are feeding. You can spray the area or place small drops on paper. The ants flock to the mix and consume it. The ants transfer the sodium borate into their colony to share with other ants, exterminating them all.
Spray the ants and the ant colony with insecticide. These ant-killer sprays contain harmful chemicals, so be careful not to ingest any. The exact instructions on the spray can. The ants should die shortly after coming into contact with the spray. Insecticides should only be used as a last resort.
Mix a solution of 50 percent apple cider vinegar and 50 percent water. You can add the mix to a spray bottle for use as a non-toxic insecticide and spray the army ants directly.
Use a soap solution to kill the ants. Mix a spray bottle with water (two thirds) and soap (one third). You can experiment with different types of soap, such as ivory or a more natural soy-based soap. Spray the ants and their ant colony immediately.
The ant population in your home can quickly rise to become a nuisance, but they are also capable of causing much more than just an annoyance. Some species may even cause damage to your property.
